LAURA EASON is a long-time Lookingglass ensemble member and has served the company as a writer, director, actor, literary manager and, for six years, Artistic Director.
As an actor, Laura has appeared in many Lookingglass shows including Our Town, The Arabian Nights, The Secret in the Wings, La Luna Muda, Hard Times, The Vanishing Twin, The Master and Margarita, The Jungle and The Odyssey, among others.Â
Now primarily a writer, Laura is the author of more than twenty plays, both original work and adaptations, and a musical book writer.Â She also recently began writing for television; season two of the Netflix show House of Cards.Â Â For the company, she wrote and directed the world premieres of Around the World in 80 Days (also produced at Baltimore Centerstage; Kansas City Rep; Lambâ€™s Theatre, CA), Ethan Frome and In the Eye of the Beholder (also produced at Touchstone Theatre, PA), among others. Â Additional Lookingglass directing credits include Joy Gregoryâ€™s Dreaming Lucia, David Catlinâ€™s Lookingglass Hamlet, and J. Nicole Brooksâ€™ FEDRA: Queen of Haiti. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â

Musical book writer:Â Days Like Today, inspired by the romance plays of Charles L. Mee with music and lyrics by Alan Schmuckler (commissioned by and upcoming world premiere at Writers Theatre, 2014) and Summerland, lyrics by Sean Barry, music by Jenny Giering, commissioned by Chicago Shakespeare Theatre (NAMT grant recipient for development.)

In New York, she is an Affiliated Artist of the Obie-winning New Georges and an alumna of the Womenâ€™s Project Playwrightâ€™s Lab and America-in-Play.Â She is an alumna of the Piven Theatre Workshop and the Performance Studies Department of Northwestern University.
