CLASSES & WORKSHOPS

How long are sessions?

Children’s classes: 10 weeks
Class times range from 45 minutes to 90 minutes depending on the age and program offered.

Where do classes and workshops take place?

Lookingglass' classes and workshops are held in the John Hancock Center building located downtown on Michigan avenue, just one block away from our theatre in the Water Tower Works building. Depending on schedule and availability, classes and workshops take place either in our rehearsal room, classroom or in our studio located on the 2nd floor of the theatre. Most of our classes in 2009-2010 will take place in the Hancock building. You will be informed of the specific location prior to the start of the program.

How do we enter the Hancock building space?

You and your child will enter the John Hancock building from the Chestnut street entrance.  (Parents are not required to accompany children; many of our older students check in by themselves). After the front desk checks you in, Hancock security will key your elevator to floor 22. When you exit the elevator on the 22nd floor, look for signs to direct you to your classroom or rehearsal space. At the end of the day. The class will return to the Hancock lobby, accompanied by the lookingglass instructor for pick up.

Where do I park during a Lookingglass program?

We provide validated parking for $10 (valid for 4 hours) at the John Hancock Center building located at 875 N. Michigan and at the Olympia Center parking garage, located at 161 E. Chicago Ave. If you park in these garages, it is your responsibility to ask your teacher for validation stamps and parking chasers before leaving Lookingglass.*

There is also limited metered street parking near both the Hancock building and the Water Tower Water Works, east of Michigan Avenue on Chestnut Street and Chicago Avenue.
* Please note that we can not guarantee that space will be available in the Olympia Center at all times.

What should I do during my child’s class?
Do I need to stay at Lookingglass during my child’s class?
You may leave during your child’s class and return at pick up time, or you are welcome to stay. The education department has a parent waiting room just down the hall from our classrooms with chairs, books and toys for siblings, and access to wireless internet for parents!
